Our community consultation and engagement approach involves sharing information and listening to feedback from the community, on range of environmental, social and cultural projects.
Footprint Energy follows an integrated Customer Engagement and Social Research Process including:
- Client Requirements discussed and defined. Clear goals and defining what success looks like.
- Investigation and analysis of Current Situation. Audience analysis. Understanding the right audience!
- Survey and Interview strategy formulated and detailed questions defined and documented
- Survey and Interviews carried out. Choosing the best platform and tools and team structure with right resources and people needed to execute strategy effectively while having engagement and community building and strengthening.
- Initial Qualitative and Quantitative (Statistical) analysis performed.
- Additional surveys and interviews conducted as appropriate.
- Final Qualitative and Quantitative Report drafted (including Risks/Issues and recommended actions).
- Client review of draft Final Report.
- Final Report prepared and submitted.

Footprint's community and stakeholder engagement programs focuses on an industry which is aiming to tackle CO2 emission reduction. Footprint have an understanding of issues being raised by the public on a range of issues relating to the energy mix, including renewable energy and nuclear energies.
Our staff have a clear understanding of community issues and sensitivities across various jurisdictions in Australia, including in particular, NSW and QLD. We are aware of the discussions around achieving a balanced energy mix and consumer needs for reduced cost of electricity associated with different energy types.

Footprint's Director, Joanne Sedman, has worked directly with renewable energy companies across eastern Australia, within compliance and education roles.
Footprint's Education and Engagement Manager, Patricia Morris, and Complex Systems expert, John Lee, have recently (2024) achieved on-the-ground familiarisation with major renewable energy projects within Queensland, from Ravenshoe (Far North Queensland) to Collinsville, Eungella, Pioneer-Burdekin (Central Queensland), and to Gladstone and Borumba (South-East Queensland). This has in turn enhanced our understanding of community concerns and support relating to potential impacts on social , cultural/indigenous, and environmental aspects from proposed renewable energy projects.
Patricia is also an Educator with over 30 years experience in teaching in schools and community across Australia. She has worked for the NT government and the National Heart Foundation, advising various sectors on community environmental health issues. Her passion is the education of our community to empower and improve people’s quality of life and reduce impact on the environment as a whole.
Patricia is available to assist in developing programs at school and community levels with a view to improving peoples' mental and physical environments.

Our Community Engagement Program also provides a service of ongoing support by our Environmental & Sustainability Advisors to ask questions of about relevant issues relating to your projects or activities.
Our team consists of educators and sustainability facilitators with experience in running successful programs to raise awareness in schools, businesses and organisations and in industry across Australia and internationally, in the topics of environmental (conservation and biodiversity), business sustainability, behavioural change, and holistic integration (health/environment).
