NABERS: Building Disclosure Requirements 

Understand your commercial building performance

​​Our NABERS and CBD Assessors are nationally accredited to prepare base and whole building ratings, with extensive experience conducting ratings for a range of building types. ​
NATIONAL AUSTRALIAN BUILT ENVIRONMENT RATING SYSTEM (NABERS) & COMMERCIAL BUILDING DISCLOSURE (CBD), AUSTRALIA 
​​Gaining an accredited building rating will provide the following benefits: 
  •   High rating results means greater efficiency, hence lower costs and reduced life cycle costs.
  •   Organisations which have demonstrated a willingness to take action on wider community issues, such as reducing impact on the environment,  through NABERS Performance Ratings, have enjoyed increased staff productivity and greater customer awareness.
  •  Building owners can promote their environmental performance. 
  • Compare: NABERS ratings form the basis of a robust sustainability strategy. They provide a fair benchmark for a building’s energy, waste and water efficiency, and indoor environment, enabling comparison across the industry.
  • Validate and communicate: NABERS provides cost-effective, high-trust, and independent validation of sustainability data, ensuring confidence in reporting it publicly and communicating it simply.
  • Track and improve: NABERS star ratings are an essential framework for annual reporting and sustainability strategies. With annual ratings, performance improvements and reduced energy and emissions can be demonstrated over time.
  • Competitive edge: Enables building owners to communicate simply and with confidence that their building has a lower environmental impact and running costs to prospective buyers, renters, procurement teams or hotel guests. Government tenants and increasingly other types of tenants are seeking minimum 4-5 star rated NABERS premises to rent.

An annual review ensures the rating is up-to-date and accurate for a client’s current operational performance. 

The process provides a baseline energy rating including energy intensity per m2 and overall energy intensity in regard to the previous 12 months operation. A NABERS rating is valid for one year.

NABERS ratings will provide a benchmark for energy consumption comparative to similar buildings across Australia, and a benchmark relative to points in time for a building from year to year.
